Federico Aulenta is a Senior Scientist at the Water Research Institute (IRSA) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and Head of the Laboratory for Microbial Bioprocesses. His main research interests Research interests falls within the broad area of industrial and environmental biotechnology for soil and groundwater remediation, wastewater treatment, bioenergy and chemicals production. Research combines concepts and techniques from chemical engineering with those from (bio)chemistry, electrochemistry, and microbiology. On these topics he published over 120 articles in peer-reviewed ISI Journals and International Book chapters. From 2013 to 2016 he was elected to serve the Board of Directors of the International Society of Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (ISMET).
